There are some reasons can explain why i choice these two films

Physical comedies

There are physical comedies. in the last term , i have already introduce physical comedy. For physical comedy, humors is very simple, because when audiences watch physical comedy, they don't think the deeper meaning. Those kind of comedy make audiences more relax. This is the reason why physical comedy is famous in the world, and many director like producing physical comedy.

Satire Comedy

There are satire comedy. there are many famous satire comedies publish in recent year. Like The Dictator, 3 Idiots,The Interview and so on.

There are some characteristics in this kind of comedy

1.The storyline is talk about current even.

2. one of the main actor is villain. 

For example, in Zoolander, the villain is a famous fashion designer. he always think he is right. he think zoolander is a loser. but finally, zoolander beat him. In fact, this phenomenon is happen in our life, and the direct use comedy to reflect this phenomenon.  

Director

The director is Ben Stiller, and he is the main actor in the film.  I want to learn the actor how to direct the film, i think it is a difficult work,   because  the actor is directing and performing in the same time, Thus he  need consider what is his job, the first one is director , than is actor, or the first one is actor, than is director. 

Cooperation 

In recent year, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell become very famous comedy actor in American. many people call them " comedy fraternity".they and Jim Carrey are famous comedy actor, but they have a little different from jim carrrey.  In jim carrey's film, he always work for himself. In Ben Stiller's film,  Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell alway cooperate with him.

Post to China

Last week, we do shooting about "Post to China". 

Firstly,we shoot in record store. There are many record in the store,  Jin buy a "Beatles" record. Then, we shoot in the tea room. we shoot the decorate of tea room. Zoey drink tea near the window. Then, we shoot in Broadway, my object is umbrella.  At begging, i think if today rain, we can shoot in the street, but today is sunshine. So we discuss how to perform. finally, we decide splashing water in my coat, it looks like rain day, i return room to pick up umbrella. when we finish shoot in Broadway studio, we go to Wavely studio.  Many students design clothes in the studio, we shooting Shirley how to design the hat in the studio. In the afternoon, we go to Gill's store. Due to Friday afternoon, many people shopping in the store, we spend a little of time to shoot in the store. Finish shooting, we came back to Broadway, every one introduce own object, and then other people ask some questions. Next week, we will edit those video.

After Effect

we study After effect in this term,  we learn many knowledge for After effect, For example, we learn how to produce rain. i think this session is very useful for my finial project. because in my sitcom, i need use After effect to produce the beginning of the animation

Postcard to China

Last Friday, Roger and Paul tell us to do a short video in this Friday, The video is talk about British culture.

Firstly,everyone introduce a project which is famous in British. Zoey choice afternoon tea, Mark choice coin, Jin choice vinyl record, Shirley choice hat, i choice umbra.

Secondly, everyone choice a job, Zoey is editor,  Mark is camera man, Jin is director, Shirley is  producer, i am sounder.

Thirdly, everyone choice shooting location, Zoey choice tearoom, Mark choice shop, Jin choice CD Shop, Shirley choice wavely studio, i choice outside of Broadway.

This week we do shooting,and next week we do post editing.

The reason why i choice umbra is that British weather is changefully,  when i first time to British, the morning is sunshine, but when i go outside, the weather is rain cats and dogs, So now, when i need go outside, i always bring umbra. In other aspect, in my mind, a British decent man, he always bring a black umbra.  

Outside shooting loction

This week, i go outside and find some shooting location, Finally i decide shooting in Arboretum Park,  There are some reasons can explain why i choose this one

1, Arboretum Park is near to school,  when i do post production, i will go to there again and add some shots.

2. Arboretum park has chairs and many trees, there are very important props in my sitcom.

3. There are few people go to Arboretum Park. 

Celtx

Celtx is a script writing software. i think is useful for script writer,  especially like me who is the first time to write the script.  when i use this software, i find many basic functions. like scene heading, shot, character, dialogue,  parenthetical.  There are vey simple and junior understand quickly. For me, i think character and dialogue are very important. There are many dialogues in my sitcom, and different characters has different dialogue.  Celtx help me to show dialogue clearly.

Finally project

i start to write my script, my sitcom called colorful time vs dark time. The colorful time is talk about people use phone, the dark time is talk about people without phone. 

before writing, i had already do questionnaire in uk and china, and the question is Which features you always use the phone？There are 20 British subjects and 30 Chinese subjects give me answers. Through analyze answers, i find many answers are similar, so i combine uk's answers with Chinese answers. 

40 percent of subjects write Message

20 percent of subjects write Phone

20 percent of subjects write App

10 percent of subjects writer Email. 

There are four parts in my sitcom, part one is talk about message, part two is talk about phone, part three is talk about app, part four is talk about email. Each part is about five minutes.

Test Shooting

This week, i do a test shooting about shooting in raw and shooting in normal

After shooting, i find some different form two items

1.when i use raw to shoot, i can find some detail for subject.

2.the MegaByte of Raw format is bigger than that of normal format.

For my sitcom, i will use raw shooting in some places, because if i use raw shooting, i need more memory space, It is a problem for my budget.

British Film

Last Friday, we watch a film, called A Matter of Life and Death. 

The film was originally released in the United States under the title Stairway to Heaven, which derived from the film's most prominentspecial effect: a broad escalator linking Earth to the afterlife. The decision to film the scenes of the Other World in black and white added to the complications. They were filmed in Three-strip Technicolor, but the colour was not fully developed, giving a pearly hue to the black and white shots, a process cited in the screen credits as "Colour and Dye-Monochrome Processed in Technicolor". This reversed the effect in The Wizard of Oz^{[nb 1]}. Photographic dissolves between "Technicolor Dye-Monochrome" (the Other World) andThree-Strip Technicolor (Earth) are used several times during the film.

 After watching, Paul tell us some information about this film.

it is a 1960 British film produced by Tony Richardson. It is an adaptation of the 1958 novel of the same name by Alan Sillitoe. Sillitoe wrote the screenplay adaptation and the film was directed by Karel Reisz. The film is about a young machinist who spends his weekends drinking and partying, until his affair with a married woman leads to the young man being beaten to the point of hospitalization by her husband.

Finally, Paul tell us what is British film, he said some British films are using facility in British , some films' budget from British.

Single- camera 

A single camera is employed on the set, and each shot to make up a scene is taken independently. 

Advantage

 It is extremely mobile, and thus easily relocated.

 It is largely independent of its surrounding

Multi-camera 

Several cameras are employed on the set and simultaneously record or broadcast a scene.



Advantage

It reduces the time spent film editing or video editing the footage. 

scenes may be shot far more quickly 

It also reduces the complexity of tracking continuity issues

For me

my sitcom is like 《Movies vs Life》, there are two parts. there are  similar location, characters and story, but the ending is different. part one's ending is normal, part two's ending is humor.

i want multi-cams and single-cams are both plentiful in my sitcom

When characters communicate each other inside, i will use Muti-camera to shoot, because i want to ensure the perform is fluency.

When i need to show character's emotion, i will use single-camera to shoot.

Friday session

Last Friday, we study in Roger's house, it is my first time to visit British house. there are two floors and eight rooms in the house. 

Firstly, Roger introduce his house. I think the house's decoration is very artistry, because there are many different kinds of picture in the house. 

Secondly, Roger tough us different kinds of light and how to use those light. we chose two kinds of light in the interview. At begin, we use reflector in the interview. Then, we use LED light in the interview, In the end. we use Dedolight in the interview. Though testing, we can find the effect of LED light is better, then is reflector, the effect of Dedolight is worst. Because when we use Dedolight, we can find a big shadow on the wall. 

In the afternoon, we take a happy afternoon tea. Roger prepare different kinds of refreshments. During the afternoon tea, Roger introduce the history of afternoon tea. he explain high tea and low tea. After the tea , we had an hour to practice by ourselves. we produce a short movie, we use LED light as a key-light and then using Dedolight as a feeling light. Finally, we produce short movie successfully.

I think this session is very good, because we can learn many professional knowledges.
